Hospital — Five Operating Theatres

Critical environmental control and resilient plant

The Example 2 video is included as the current technical prototype. Final public release should replace the narration with the approved natural professional voice.

Plant overview

  • Central heating and chilled-water plant
  • Dedicated theatre AHUs
  • HEPA filtration and room pressure control
  • BMS/sensor integration
  • Fire/HVAC cause-and-effect and essential services

DFV connects each design requirement to identifiable assets, sensors, tests, documentation and operational evidence.

How it works

The system architecture is presented as connected engineering functions rather than isolated equipment. Plant, distribution, controls and end-use conditions are linked through a structured DFV evidence chain.

Lifecycle purpose

Commissioning evidence establishes the initial verified state. Operational data and governed change management support later re-verification.

Engineering sizing basis

Generation and air systems are sized from simultaneous clinical operating modes, outside-air treatment, sensible and latent loads, room pressure requirements, resilience and specialised healthcare criteria.

All figures shown in the demonstrations are concept/reference duties unless explicitly identified otherwise.

Reference basis

CIBSE AM17NZ Building Code G4NZS 4512:2021 where applicableProject-specific healthcare engineering requirements

Applicable editions, project specifications, authority requirements and specialised standards must always be confirmed for a real project.

What DFV verifies

  • Theatre differential pressure
  • Temperature and humidity
  • AHU airflow and fan state
  • Filter condition and alarms
  • Plant resilience and commissioning evidence
